The Four Phase Installation System

At Luxury Artificial Grass, we use an innovative installation system which enhances your lawn’s lifespan and ensures it stays 100% pet-friendly. By using a scientifically tested four phase system, we install durable, high-quality artificial grass able to handle drainage and withstand harsh weather conditions.

This enhances drainage by up to 400% and prevents the build-up of any bacteria and nasty odours. By using a four phase installation process, we can guarantee an artificial grass lifespan of up to 10 years.

When installing artificial grass, we always recommend hiring a professional team. This will help to ensure the grass is laid on solid foundations and is built to last.

What's the difference?

Other artificial grass installation companies have been known to lay the grass on sand or concrete as an alternative to the four phase system. Over time, these foundations absorb pet urine and create a breeding ground for toxic bacteria and bad odours. Sand is also prone to eroding and washing away in harsh weather conditions, leaving gardens uneven.

As sand and concrete are porous, the bacteria is extremely difficult to remove and often results in the complete removal and replacement of the artificial grass.

To avoid this, our four phase system is designed to tackle these common issues. We incorporate a solid, advanced drainage system, robust foundations and anti-porous, pet-friendly grass backing. Our expert installers have a wealth of experience in laying artificial grass in a range of areas and conditions. Using their knowledge, they can tailor the installation system to suit your garden’s exacting requirements.

‍Built to last.

By taking the above steps when installing your lawn, we ensure that it is built to last. The foundations and secure edging protects the grass from harsh weather and being pulled up by your furry friends. The drainage system is comprehensive and is scientifically proven to enhance drainage by up to 400%.

Before the installation process, we’ll visit your garden for an initial consultation to ensure we’re clear on your requirements. We’ll ask about the problems you have with your current garden if any, and any elements we’ll need to be aware of before starting the works.

Our 4 Phase Installation Process

1. Base Work

Before starting the installation process, it is essential to ensure we are working on clear, level foundations. To do this, we start by undertaking a full excavation of the area where the grass will be installed. The team then rakes, levels and scours the surface for any rocks or debris.

To fortify the turf, plastic battens are then installed around the edge of the area using concrete.
The weatherproof battens provide reinforcement and help to ensure that the turf cannot shrink or pull away at the edges. They also provide a neat edging for the grass once installed.

When the battens are firmly in place, the team then lay the foundations. They use crushed rock and grano; anti-porous materials which provide a solid foundation and enhance drainage. Unlike sand or concrete, these materials do not absorb excess liquids, preventing the build-up of bacteria.

2. Rapid Flow Backing

At Luxury Artificial Grass, we use High Flow Technology which has been scientifically designed to enhance drainage by up to 400%. The backing is made using polyurethane which is a highly durable, anti-porous material. The polymers repel liquid, preventing any absorption and allowing liquids to drain effectively.

High Flow backed grass was designed to eliminate these problems and prevent bacteria growth. This is laid onto the foundations and secured into place using the plastic battens. The team use discrete, aesthetically pleasing green pegs and screws to secure the turf.

3. Organic, environmentally friendly infill

We then spread an organic, environmentally safe infill across the turf. This helps to ensure the grass maintains that all important natural look and acts as an added barrier against pet waste. The infill is made from porous materials which absorb excess liquid and pet waste, preventing it from sinking into the turf. Then, when it rains, the waste is released and washed away, leaving your garden odour free.

Other artificial grass providers use sand or rubber as an alternative to infill which can do more damage than good. The materials absorb waste but fail to release it, meaning smells and bacteria will increase over time.

To complete the infill process, the team use a firm brush to sweep the grass, ensuring the whole area is covered.

4. Enzyme Cleaner

The final stage in the installation process involves deep clean. This removes any existing organic waste and helps to ensure the grass is cleansed. To do this, the team use a natural, organic enzyme cleaner which penetrates the turf and digests any bacteria.

Unlike other artificial grass cleaners, the solution we use is 100% environmentally friendly and contains no toxic substances or artificial fragrances. The natural, active ingredients systematically break down waste and bacteria, allowing it to drain freely and efficiently.

If you are a pet owner, once the grass is installed, we recommend using Enzyme Cleaner to thoroughly clean your lawn every few weeks. This will prevent bacteria from building up and eliminate any nasty odours. It will also help to ensure that your grass remains a clean, safe environment for the whole family.
